Susan Buttner is an artist based in Ireland concerned with ideas around knowledge and power, identity politics, alienation and difference. Appealing to her own sensibility, choice materials are wide ranging and often playful, integrating industrially manufactured with crafted objects, revealing juxtapositions and co-existences. Performance, film and sound activate her installations, offering a metaphorical sense of place where hierarchies between historical and personal narratives are collapsed. This practice involves sculpture, painting, performance, film and collaborative projects.
